Singapore has one of the best public transport systems in the world. The entire city was designed with this system in mind, so getting around is fast and easy. Paying by cash is an option, but it’s quite a lot of hassle and costs significantly more. So in order to use public transport in Singapore, you really need either a Singapore Tourist Pass or an EZ Link card. We will tell you exactly where you can buy a Singapore Tourist Pass, what it will cost you and whether it’s worth it over the EZ Link Card. A Singapore Tourist Pass is a card designed to allow tourists to easily use Singapore’s efficient public transport system. The cards come in one, two or three-day versions, which give you unlimited use of the standard buses, MRT Trains and LRT Trains in Singapore for the number of days specified. This card is very quick and easy, allowing you to not have to worry about topping up or having insufficient funds. Once you have bought it, you are good to go and explore all the best things to do in Singapore. Just remember, as soon as you step on a bus or enter an MRT platform, tap the card on the panel. Then, as you get off the bus or depart from an MRT platform, tap another panel to leave. Singapore Tourist Pass Price The Singapore Tourist Pass price is S$12 for one day, S$19 for two days and S$24 for three days. You will be required to pay a deposit of S$10 in addition to the prices above when you purchase the Singapore Tourist Pass. This deposit will be refunded to you in full, as long as you return the card within five days of purchasing it. If you choose to keep the card, you will not be refunded the S$10. The card will transition to a standard EZ Link card. Follow us on Instagram! Where to Buy Singapore Tourist Pass For most people, the easiest place to purchase and return the Singapore Tourist Pass is Changi International Airport. You can do this at the TransitLink Ticket Office in Terminal two between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Alternatively, there will be automated kiosks available 24/7 in both Terminal two and three. If you have already left the airport, you can buy the Singapore Tourist Pass at a TransitLink Ticketing Office located at one of the below MRT Stations. If you’re staying centrally at one of our favourite hotels, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Yotel or Hipstercity Hostel, then you’ll probably want to visit the Orchard, Raffles or Bayfront MRT stations. For trips under three days, this is the most cost-effective and easiest way to use Singapore’s public transport system. If you plan to visit Singapore for longer than three days and intend to use public transport to get around, then you should choose the EZ Link card. It is also very cheap, plus you do not need to worry about returning the card before leaving. If you only plan to use public transport only a few times during your stay, then don’t purchase either the Singapore Tourist Pass or the EZ Link card. It will be cheaper to just pay by cash. Singapore Tourist Pass Refund You will be eligible for a refund of your S$10 rental deposit when you return the Singapore Tourist Pass to a TransitLink Ticket Office or SMRT Passenger Service Centre within five days of purchase. Note, the value of the Singapore Tourist Pass is non-refundable. If you do not use it, or you are unhappy with it for any reason, you will not be able to receive a refund beyond the S$10 rental deposit. You also must ensure you return the card within five days of purchase or you will not receive your S$10 refund. Other Conditions of the Singapore Tourist Pass One day usage of the Singapore Tourist Pass covers a 24 hour period from midnight on the day of use until the same day. This means if you arrive and use your card at 10 pm, you will only get a couple of hours usage until the day ticks over. Try to start its use in the morning for maximum value. The second and third day must be consecutive. Even if you do not use your card on the second or third day, it still counts as a day. Some transport services are excluded Night Rider, Sentosa Express, RWS8, Fast Forward and Nite Owl Buses. Singapore Tourist Pass Plus The Singapore Tourist Pass Plus is an extended version of the standard Singapore Tourist Pass sold exclusively by Changi Recommends. It offers some additional perks for tourists, beyond unlimited use of MRT and bus service. Currently, the Singapore tourist Pass Plus costs $38 for a three-day pass. We feel that for the majority of people this pass won’t offer any benefit above what you already get from the cheaper, standard Singapore Tourist Pass. What you do get is a complimentary Xplore half-day tour and a complimentary $10 Hooters Dining Voucher. In addition to this, you will receive 5% off merchandise at Resort World Sentosa. We would recommend that you stick to the standard Singapore Tourist Pass unless you have intentions of using the Xplore half-day tour and dining at Hooters. For us, the perks really aren’t relevant, and as a result, we’ve never chosen to purchase this card. If you’re unsure, it’s safe for you to save your cash and skip the Singapore Tourist Pass Plus. Where to Stay in Singapore With an STP For most tourists, we’d recommend staying as close to the city center as possible as it makes getting to all the major attractions as easy as possible. You’ll have plenty of spots to pick up an STP as well as a bunch of stations to choose from when catching the MRT. We’d recommend staying anywhere between Marina Bay, Chinatown, Clarke Quay and Orchard. These suburbs are all next to eachother in central Singapore making access to anywhere on the island easy. To experience Singapore a bit more like a local would, we’d recommend also checking out suburbs like Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio or Bishan, however, accommodation here would be scarce. We stayed with family in these suburbs and it was awesome. All of these suburbs have bus stops and MRT stations so even if you’re not in the city center you can still get around. Hotel Recommendations Marina Bay Marina Bay Sands Hotel the best of the best Orchard Yotel modern and affordable by Singapore standards Clarke Quay Hipstercity Hostel best hostel in Singapore, centrally located but still not cheap
Answer1 of 17: Hi guys Based on the following itinerary (not set in stone but for a rough calculation) would you suggest I get an Ez-Link card or the $16 Tourist Pass for 2 days using the MRT to travel about: Saturday 09:30 - Breakfast at hotel 11:00 - MRT Singapore Travel Guide May 14, 2017 Both Ez-link card and Singapore Tourist Pass can be used to pay transport fares on buses, MRT, and LRT. Singapore Tourist Pass vs. EZ-Link card Aug 18, 2022, 120 PM We’ll be in Singapore soon for a 9-day stay. I’ve visited before and have bought the Singapore tourist pass for the MRT the basic 3-day $30 pass, not the one with extras. But I’ve realised that on those previous visits I happened to be staying close to MRT stations that had a Transit Link ticket office - they were my nearest stations, in fact - which made buying and renewing them easy. This won’t be the case on the next visit; it will be a bit of a trek to the nearest TransitLink ticket office. So I’m wondering if it might be worth getting an EZ-Link card instead. The cost of 3 Tourist Passes for 9 days would be $60 each, of course, or maybe $70 if we don’t manage to get the last ones handed in. I understand that the cost of using EZ-Link will depend on how often we use the MRT, and that’s unknown at the moment but I would expect us to take several rides a day. Really, I’m attracted by the ease of getting the EZ-Link card at convenience stores, for example as against having to find an open Transit Link ticket office, several times during the holiday. What do people think? Finally, an on-line search found a stray reference to Automated Kiosks for the Tourist Pass, but there’s no mention of it on the Tourist Pass website. Have they vanished? Also I know that I could get the first Tourist Passes on arrival at Changi, but to be honest after a 13 hour flight I won’t be in a state to do that, nor will be my wife be amused if I try to do so. Getting to the hotel will the 1 and only priority!

However, you won’t be able to use the STP on bus services such as the Fast Forward, Chinatown Direct, NightRider, Express Service, Night Owl etc. The Sentosa Express isn’t covered by the Singapore Tourist Pass too. EZ-link Card Every Singaporean’s staple wallet-mate; the EZ-link card is a smart contactless transportation card. In place of a cash card, the EZ-link card can be used on In-Vehicle Units to pay ERP tolls along the road. Certain vending machines in Singapore have included accepting EZ-Link card payments too. Fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s have also accepted EZ-link payments. The card comes in many different designs and colours, sometimes serving as a collectors item because of this novelty. Cons The EZ-link card is a prepaid card. This means that you have to add value to the card whenever credit runs low. However, it’s pretty easy to do. Just look out for the general ticketing machines at any MRT station and any bus interchange to add value to your card. Another less than desirable feature of this is that the cards cost $5 and this is not refundable. So if you’re considering getting some of what you paid for back after you’re done with your trip, you might not want to go for the EZ-link and Cons of STPImage creditPros Unlimited rides and a few options of day-passes; that’s the main selling point. The Singapore Tourist Pass is catered towards travellers coming over for a quick holiday. So you can ride any number of rides on buses, MRT and LRT. If you’re having trouble, you can still get help from the TransitLink Ticket Offices or Passenger Service Counters at public transport services and to the fact that there is a limited number of options to choose from, a purchase of this card will only see you get to use it for only a certain number of days. Anything over 4 days would mean STP would need to be to visit Singapore? We’ve got some serviced apartment options overlooking the Singapore River, just for you!Which we would recommendA recommendation here would depend on the type of traveller you are. If you’re here on a very short trip involving days that are less than a week then I would suggest getting the Singapore Tourist Pass. If you’re looking for a little trinket, you can get the STP Charm, which includes a 1-day pass that you can take unlimited ridesrides are a huge deciding factor, the flexibility of this card works best for tourists or those on a short trip. EZ Link Card versus Singapore Tourist Pass EZ Link Card Photo Credit Singapore Tourist Pass Website Photo Credit Singapore Tourist Pass Website Singapore has one of the world's most efficient public transport system. It is fast and economical. You can hop on and off their trains and buses with just one card. But which one is best to use? As a frugal traveler, I searched online and read on forums about which I should use when we get to Singapore - the regular EZ Link card or the Singapore Tourist Pass. Most people said it's best to get an EZ link card. EZ Link Card You can purchase this card at any 7-11 stores or an MRT station. It costs $12 SGD with a non-refundable $5 card cost, and $7 travel value. The EZ link card can be used at any MRT, LRT, bus, or even taxi. It can also be used as entrance to Sentosa Express - the monorail from Vivo City to Sentosa Island. Please note though that this card needs to have at least a $3 value. You will be prompt to top-up load your card by the reader if it has low value left in it. You can top-up your card at any MRT station, or a Cheers convenience store. Good thing, you can ask for a refund of your unused travel value at Changi Airport MRT station before you leave Singapore. So top it up! Singapore Tourist Pass Singapore Tourist Pass is like an EZ link card. The difference however, is that you pay for your desired travel duration and be able to enjoy unlimited rides on Singapore's public transport. You can opt to buy a 1-day, 2-day, or a 3-day pass. You can travel using the public bus, MRT or LRT. This however does not apply for other buses or trains like the Express, Fast Forward, and the Night Owl. Prices* 1 Day Pass - $20 2 Day Pass - $26 3 Day Pass - $30 *Each pass has a $10 refundable deposit which you can get when you return the card within 5 days Both cards are good. But it all boils down to which one will give you the best value. For me, I had to make our itinerary first, listing down each travel and mode of transportation we had to take. I used to help me choose the best route and the approximate value of each travel. After adding up all the transport expenses, I compared the cost of getting a 3-day Singapore tourist pass with getting a regular EZ link card with top-up. Weighing each, I have decided to take the EZ link card instead. The EZ link card won because it answered all our transportation costs, including the Sentosa Express. Although the $5 card cost is non-refundable, we were able to refund the remaining travel value of our card. The Singapore Tourist Pass would be great to use if your transport expenses will exceed the value of the passes you purchased. I doubt though that you will be able to spend $20 for bus and trains in 3 days - unless you'd be exploring the city A LOT. More information

Level Contributor 27 posts singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago hi everyone, we r 3 of us travelling to singapore and will stay for 5 days. our mode of transport will be the mrt/lrt/bus. we will visit all the major attractions like the zoo, jurong bird park ,sentosa, universal studio, flyer and also airport to hotel transfer. we r staying in little india. plz help me in choosing which card will be best suited for us to travel within the island. thank you Level Contributor 3,081 posts 77 reviews 90 helpful votes 1. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago Just get the normal Ezlink card. You can't make use of the full value of the tourist pass, unless you spend more time on MRTs and buses rather than at the tourist attractions. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago The EZLINK link card is almost always the best option Level Contributor 9,618 posts 4. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago EZ-link card without a doubt. It's cheap, hugely convenient, and can even be used in 7/11 outlets. So it costs $5 non-refundable charge, which will be made good by the savings you make on single fare trips. It's probably the best 5 bucks you'll ever spend. Good luck and enjoy. Alan. Level Contributor 17,660 posts 18 reviews 120 helpful votes 5. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago EZlink. While the tourist pass is very convenient it has a large deposit that must be recovered or cannot if you buy the card abroad. It also is expensive in comparison to using an EZlink although still cheap. Finally, and this is the main issue for you - it works for 72hrs maximum. The EZlink has a 5SGD non-returnable cost and the rest of the price is travel credit but it offers cheaper usage costs than buying standard tickets. The more you use it, the more of that 5SGD you recover. The card lasts for 5 years, so can be used on a return visit - at least it lasts for the full 5 days you are in Singapore. If you wish to you can reutrn the card when you leave to refund unused travel credit. The EZlink can also be used to pay for entrance to Sentosa island by either boardwalk or monorail routes, several taxi types will take it although you must always check before the taxi moves off that they can take it SMRT is the main user - and is useable in a few stores as well. Overall it fits more people better than the tourist pass, and you fall into that category in my opinion. Level Contributor 27 posts 6. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago thanks every one for the reply Since we r 3 people do i need to buy 3 ez link card? If yes then in that case 15S$ is blocked/nonrefundable. Just let me know the average expenditure in mrt/lrt/bus for travelling to the various attraction from little india. As per the best of my research jurong and the zoo is the farthest while sentosa is much do i spend both ways if i am travelling to jurong bird park thru mrt/lrt/bus??Also let me know how much is the cost to sentosa via mrt /lrt/busexcluding the sentosa express thank you Level Contributor 61,585 posts 123 reviews 4,381 helpful votes 7. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago An EZ-Link card costs S$12, inclusive of a S$5 non-refundable card cost and a S$7 card value ready to use right after purchase. The EZ-Link card is a contactless smart card based on the Sony FeliCa smartcard technology and used for the payment of public transportation fares in Singapore, The card is commonly used in Singapore as a smartcard for paying transportation fees in the city-state's Mass Rapid Transit MRT, Light Rail Transit LRT and public bus services Level Contributor 17,660 posts 18 reviews 120 helpful votes 8. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago You need an EZlink pe person. The 5SGD refundable value is clawed back by the 30 to 40cent kind of saving per trip - so after 10-15 trips you will have saved that much back or a fraction of that for travelling less. For the zoo and Birdpark I would really probably dive into a taxi - that 15-20SGD each way more in peak hour while the cost for bus and MRT will be only about 2SGD per person but the public transport route can take 90mins plus each way as opposed to the 20-30for the taxi - thats 2hrs lost. As for expenditure, I just did 9 days in Singapore last month and got through 20SGD of travel credit on my EZlink in that time - we used taxis for the zoo, bird park and night safari but most other attractions and moving round the city we either walked or used the MRT.
